Cradlepoint today announced the all new COR IBR900, their latest 4G LTE networking solution for in-vehicle and M2M/IoT applications.
The latest addition to the COR family, the Cradlepoint COR IBR900 delivers super fast and flexible networking. Featuring an LTE-Advanced / CAT 6 modem, 802.11ac Wave 2 WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet, quad core processor and 256MB RAM, it is one of the highest performance 4G LTE routers available today. A non-WiFi COR IBR950 version is also available.
As well as working with Cradlepoint’s NetCloud Manager, NetCloud Perimeter and Extensibility Platform, the IBR900 is available with a COR Extensibility Dock which expands it to a dual modem solution. The dock not only provides dual modem capacity, but also adds a further 2 Ethernet ports plus a 10×2 connector for extra GPIOs, sensor powering, ignition sensing and redundant power supply cable – making it a highly flexible solution.
Cradlepoint COR IBR900 for In-Vehicle Networking
The Cradlepoint COR IBR900 includes vehicle-specific features such as ignition sensing, built-in voltage protection, a ruggedised form factor and extended certifications and ratings, making it easier for organisations to get and stay connected on the road. With dual SIM, and the added availability of the COR Extensibility Dock, wireless-to-wireless failover is also built in to the IBR900 solution – perfect for vehicles which roam between different areas where coverage varies, or for business-critical applications.
The Cradlepoint’s various connectivity interfaces also make it an ideal solution for connecting multiple applications including; in-vehicle WiFi hotspot, CCTV, ticket and payment processing, asset tracking and I/O monitoring such as doors open / closed, lights on / off. With an LTE-Advanced CAT 6 modem, 802.11ac Wave 2 WiFi and Gigabit Ethernet, it has the throughput to enable all these applications, and many more. It also comes with active GPS to enable location services.
Cradlepoint COR IBR900 for M2M / IoT Networking
With a ruggedised casing, the Cradlepoint COR IBR900 is perfect for industrial / hardened M2M and Internet of Things applications. Providing connectivity and routing capabilities in locations where fixed line connectivity isn’t available, it’s LTE-Advanced modem means it can handle even the most intensive of data transfers – making it the ideal solution for more data heavy M2M communications, such as remote monitoring and content download / uploads to applications such as digital signage, kiosks or CCTV.
It also futureproofs the network edge for tomorrow’s requirements which could see the need for even more data being transmitted, as technologies such as 4K and virtual reality become incorporated into such applications.
802.11ac Wave 2 WiFi: What It Means
A leading feature of the Cradlepoint COR IBR900 is its 802.11ac Wave 2 WiFi. Wave 2 ac is the latest commercial WiFi standard, and delivers more advanced capabilities than the original Wave 1 version. Supporting up to 2.34 Gbps speeds and multiuser MiMo (MU-MiMo), it is twice as fast and more efficient, perfect for high density or latency sensitive applications. It can also run in additional 5-GHz bands around the globe as they become available for WiFi, providing greater bandwidth and flexibility.
This means that as well as supporting broader WiFi applications on the road, it is also perfect for use on public transport (high density) or for transmitting voice and video calls (latency sensitive) – expanding solution flexibility even further.
